Reference price versus a shop quote
The reference price is based on spot-gold data converted into Egyptian pounds. A retailer’s final quote may include workmanship, taxes, service charges, and a merchant margin. A shop may also offer one price when buying gold from you and another when selling it to you.
What gold karats mean
Karat describes the share of pure gold in an item. 24K is treated as nearly pure for this estimate, while 21K contains 21 parts of gold out of 24 and 18K contains 18 parts. The calculator estimates lower-purity values by multiplying the pure-gold value by the karat fraction.
How to use the calculator
Enter the item’s weight in grams and select its karat. Read the estimate and use the same weight, karat, transaction direction, and fee assumptions when comparing two offers.
Limits of this estimate
The tool does not assay the item, verify a hallmark, or confirm the actual weight. It also excludes workmanship and local charges. Use it to understand the math, then ask the seller or buyer for an itemized quote.
